Nick Rapaz is an editorial portrait and reportage photographer based out of New York City. Nick was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He completed his undergraduate studies at Viterbo University in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, where he studied acting, dance and photography. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2001 with a Bachelors of Fine Art in Performance. He began acting professionally at age 16 and continued through his mid-20s, when he decided to make the transition into photography, pursuing a love of studying and capturing character instead of recreating it. He began his serious photographic studies with a series of one-on-one and group workshops led by photographers such as Alan Ross, Keith Carter and Jock Sturges. In 2005 he moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he worked as the Studio Manager for the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. During this time he served as teaching assistant to many photographic greats, including Joe McNally, Norman Jean Roy, Platon, and Gregory Heisler. In the spring of 2008, Nick moved to New York and began working full-time for Platon as his Studio Manager and first assistant. He most recently made the transition to freelance assistant, and is now focusing on developing and maturing his own photographic projects and career. Nick is available for freelance editorial and advertising shoots as well as DSLR Video. He is an experienced assistant, digital tech and DSLR Video tech. He is also available for private and group tutoring.
